Hello and Welcome to my website.
If you havent figured out by the name of my site my name is Justin Dobies. I am currently employed at DreamWorks Animation in Glendale, CA as a Lighting Technical Assistant. The title is new and as with any new title my job varies on a weekly and daily basis. Over the past 6 months I have learned tons about the industry and about how a movie comes together and I have barely scratched the surface. I am a Drexel University Alumnus with both a BS and MS in Digital Media. I owe this program a great deal as it gave me the knowledge and skill to learn what I need to do quickly. Ex: Learning python and writing 2 programs to increase my efficiency. A paper coauthored with classmate Will Muto was accepted into EuroGraphics in Germany and is also eventually being presented at DreamWorks as well.

While at Drexel I completed my thesis project (Fishes Interactive Simulated Habitat), a modular fish simulation. This project involved the creation of fish models, animation and behaviors. Fish were modeled procedurally and animated using sine wave equations. Several behaviors were created to simulate an underwater ecosystem. My thesis document can be downloaded and read here(2.1MB).
